A freestanding larder fridge is probably what you first think of when you think of a fridge. As the name suggests, these fridges stand upright and are fully on display in your kitchen, meaning they aren’t built in (hidden away behind a panel). And ‘larder’ fridges do not have freezer compartments or ice boxes, which means they can store more fresh food and drinks. This type of fridge has several compartments to help you organise your groceries accordingly. They are also incredibly easy to install, usually you just plug it in! 

Which brand?

Features

Consider features carefully. Most freestanding larder fridges have an autodefrost function but a few may still require you to defrost manually. Also, think about the types of products you usually buy and store, and what features could extend the life of your food. Different humidity and temperature zones can give you things like salad crispers or dairy compartments. On more premium products you can expect features like super cooling or bottle racks.

Choosing the right size

Always be sure to buy the right sized freestanding fridge for the space you have. Height can range from 140cm to 170cm plus, with varying widths and depths too. Litre capacity will be variable too, but expect a range between 240 and 350 litres.

What colour are you looking for?

White has always been the standard but silver/grey and black are also available.

Installation

Your local euronics expert is always on hand to help with installation and repair, but in general your freestanding larder fridge will simply be unpackaged, time allowed for the compressor gas to settle and then plugged in. With many brands offering a 3-5 year guarantees and some with 10 years on parts, you be rest assured that new freestanding larder fridge will serve you well for many years.
