About SWITCH ON

September 1982 saw the opening of ‘Switch On’ at 155 Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland, which at the time was the inspiration of experienced electrical retail manager Tony Paling.

Tony had been working in the television and electrical goods trade for many years all over the Northern Region when he decided to open Switch On in his local town. An independent company, Switch On went from strength to strength expanding staff and premises to include an in-house service department which is somewhat of a rarity these days. Positive publicity and word of mouth, quality brand goods, and being a local family run business has meant that customers return time after time for all their electrical items, purchases, repairs and advice.

Expansion during 2007 has meant that the range of products and services available has increased and currently a full range of up to date technology is on offer with prices to suit every budget including DVD Recorders, Digital Camcorders, Plasma And LCD Screens and all home appliances.  Latest products include the Humax Freesat HD Recorder, Freeview HD recorder with a 1TB Hard Drive, Panasonic Blu Ray Recorders with Freeview HD and the best in 3D TV's.
